Layered Fresh Cherry Cake

INGREDIENTS
This layered fresh cherry cake is the perfect choice for a summer dessert.

Ingredients
1 to 1 1/2 pounds of fresh cherries (approximately 50 to 75), stemmed, pitted and halved (see header note)
1 tablespoon berry jam (raspberry, blackberry, strawberry, as preferred)
3 cups unbleached, all-purpose flour, plus 1 teaspoon
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature (1 stick)
1 egg
4 egg whites
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup plain Greek yogurt
For icing:
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
4 to 5 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
