1 9 inch pie shell (store bought is fine)
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/3 cup cornstarch
1 1/2 cups water
3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
2 teaspoons lime peel (more to taste)
1/2 cup lime juice (more to taste)
2-3 tablespoons tamarind concentrate (more, depending on your twang tolerance)
3 egg whites
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
6 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
