1 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped (I used a food processsor - you want them in small pieces but not pureed)

1/2 lb cremini mushrooms, sliced
•
2 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
•
1/2 tsp ground sage
•
1/2 tsp black pepper
•
1/4 tsp salt
•
1 tsp oregano
•
1/2 tsp garlic powder
•
pinch of cayenne pepper
•
2 bay leaves
•
5.5 oz tomato paste
•
1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
•
1 (28 oz) can diced tomatoes
•
2 tsp brown sugar
•
Prepared pasta of your choice - we like spaghetti
