1/2 cup heavy cream, plus more if necessary, for icing
1 cup unsalted butter
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, for icing
2 cups sifted sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt, for icing
4 large eggs, separated
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, for icing
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup confectioners' sugar, for icing
