Football Field Cake

INGREDIENTS

For the Cake:

3 cups (15 ounces) all purpose flour
•
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon baking powder
•
3/4 teaspoon salt
•
1 1/4 cups plus 3 tablespoons whole milk
•
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
•
1 1/4 cups plus two tablespoons unsalted butter, slightly softened
•
3 cups sugar
•
5 large eggs
•
For the Frosting:
•
3/4 stick unsalted butter, at room temperature
•
3 to 5 cups confectioners’ sugar
•
8 ounces cream cheese
•
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
•
1 teaspoon lemon juice
•
Green food coloring (or blue and yellow in a bind)
•
For Football Field Decorations
•
A sharpie or black marker
•
A sheet of white paper
•
2 wooden skewers
•
6 toothpicks
•
Glue
•
An almond
