Makes 6-7 dozen cookies. My favorite Christmas cookie that mom made. She would make up the dough and divide into three parts. One part had green food coloring, next part had red coloring and the last part no coloring.

1 c

shortening
3 oz

cream cheese
1 c

sugar
1 lg

egg yolk
1 tsp

vanilla
1 tsp

orange rind, finely grated
2 1/2 c

flour
1 tsp

salt
1/4 tsp

cinnamon
food coloring (optional)
decorations/colored sugar crystals (optional)

How To Make snowflakes/press cookies

Mix well shortening and cream cheese Add sugar gradually til smooth Sift together flour, salt and cinnamon Beat in egg yolk, vanilla and orange rind Add to cream mixture, then optional food coloring

Fill cookie press. Press cookies onto ungreased cookie sheet Decorate with colored sugar crystals now or after baking

Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes Remove from cookie sheets immediately and cook on wire racks
