This is an old recipe. I have revised it a little by taking out some of the sugar and adding cinnamon. I remember eating this as a child. I believe this is Brenda's all time favorite dessert. Divide this recipe in half for an 8" x 8" pan.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups apples, mixture of granny smith and golden delicious
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • TOPPING
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 1 cup oatmeal, uncooked
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened

How To Make apple crisp

  • Step 1
    Core, peel, and slice apples.
  • Step 2
    In a bowl, mix the sugar, flour, and cinnamon together. Put the apples in a baking dish 8 x 12", add the sugar mixture and mix together.
  • Step 3
    Topping: In a medium sized bowl, mix the flour, brown sugar, oatmeal, soda, baking powder, and cinnamon together. Cut the butter into this mixture with a fork or pastry cutter until it looks crumbly. Top the apple mixture with it and bake at 350 for 45 minutes.
