The first time I had cabbage and potatoes was at MaMaw Burgess' home. We always had cabbage growing up, but never with potatoes. So, I came up with this recipe, to bring a little south to our table.

Ingredients For cabbage and potatoes

  • 1/2
    cabbage head
  • 4-6
    potatoes, skin on
  • 2
    bacon, slices
  • salt and pepper

How To Make cabbage and potatoes

    Take off wilted cabbage leaves(the first few). Cut the cabbage in about 8 pieces. Place 1/2 of the cabbabe in a 2 qt pan, salt and pepper. Put about 2 cups of water in pan.

    Clean your potatoes, leaving the skin on. Cut each potato into 4 pieces. Lay over cabbage, salt and pepper.

    Put the other layer of cabbage over the potatoes, salt and pepper. Cut the bacon in about 4 pieces lay on top. Cover, bring to boil reduce to simmer and cook for about 30-45 minutes. until potatoes and done.
