Makes: to fill a 20 lb turkey. (Cut recipe in half for a 10 lb turkey) My favorite thing at Thanksgiving dinner! Mom makes 2 loaves of bread for a 20 lb turkey and we can have an extra 2 qt casserole dish of stuffing. Ingredients
- 1 cup margarine
- 2 cups onion, chopped
- 2 cups celery, chopped
- 30 cups bread cubes (30 slices)
- 3 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- tablespoon poultry seasoning
- 2 cups water
- 1/2 pound pork sausage (optional)

Step 1Melt margarine in a skillet, add onion and celery, saute for 15 minutes. Combine bread cubes and seasonings with sauteed mixture. Add water and mix thoroughly. Optional: cut up pork sausage, uncooked and mush up into the moist stuffing.

Step 2Lightly spoon stuffing into neck cavity. Fold neck skin over and skewer it to the back. Fill abdominal cavity with remaining stuffing. Close by skewering the skin together with a heavy string or lacing.
