- 2 tablespoons All purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon Sugar
- 1 tablespoon Butter (or margarine)
- 1 1/2 cups All purpose flour
- 3/4 cup Sugar
- 2 teaspoons Baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 1 - Egg (beaten)
- 1/2 cup Milk
- 1/4 cup Cooking oil
- 4 medium plums (pitted and sliced)
- - 2* Pears (peeled, cored, and sliced)
- - *Or; 1 - 16 ounce can unpeeled purple plum halves (drained and sliced)

Step 1Grease and flour an 11 inch flan pan with a removable bottom. Set pan aside. For the topping; in a small mixing bowl stir together 2 Tbs flour and 1 Tbs sugar. Using a pastry blender, cut in butter (or margarine) until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Set topping aside.In a medium mixing bowl stir together the 1 ½ C flour, ¾ C sugar, baking powder, and salt. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients. In a small bowl stir together egg, milk, and cooking oil. Add the egg mixture all at once to the dry mixture. Stir (just until moistened), batter should be lumpy.Spread batter into the prepared pan. Arrange fruit slices on top. Sprinkle with topping. Bake in a 375F oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool kuchen in pan on a wire rack for 15 minutes. Remove the sides of the pan and serve the kuchen warm
