Easy Pumpkin Pie Cake

1 box yellow cake mix, divided (reserve 1 cup for topping)*
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, mostly melted
1 egg, beaten
1 29 ounce can pumpkin (NOT pumpkin pie filling)
1 and 1/2 cups sugar
4 eggs
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 12-ounce can evaporated milk
1 cup yellow cake mix
1/4 cup (half stick) cold butter, cut into chunks
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1/2 cup sugar
