Easy Beef Teriyaki Recipe

INGREDIENTS
1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
2 tbsp cornstarch or potato starch
1 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)
1/4 cup soy sauce (preferably low sodium)
1/4 cup mirin (sweet rice wine)
2 tbsp sake (optional, can substitute with additional mirin)
2 tbsp brown sugar or honey
1 clove garlic, finely minced
1 tsp fresh ginger, finely grated
1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water (slurry, for thickening)
Sesame seeds
Thinly sliced green onions
Steamed broccoli or carrots
