Ingredients

  • 4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening(crisco)
  • 1/4 cup butter, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk

How To Make the best biscuits ever

  • Step 1
Put all the dry ingredients in a good mixer and mix slowly with a whip attachment,
  • Step 2
Add shortening and butter and mix until the mixture looks like small peas. At this point, you can cover and refrigerate until morning if you want or continue.
  • Step 3
Add buttermilk and mix with a dough hook until all the dry ingredients are mixed together. DO NOT OVER MIX
  • Step 4
Turn out onto floured board or counter. Pat into a circle until it is about 1 1/2" thick. Cut with a cutter of choice. Do not turn the cutter. It will break down the dough!
  • Step 5
In a preheated oven, bake at 400 for about 18 minutes or until lightly golden brown.
