Mama would never dream of sculling up her lemonade with alcohol... However, I say, it’s okay to add a shot of citrus vodka for a perfectly refreshing, adult, summer afternoon, porch sittin’, sippin’ beverage.

Ingredients

  • - 1 cup sugar
  • - 1 cup water
  • - 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • - 3 cups cold water
  • - fresh mint for garnish (optional)
  • - lemon slices for garnish (optional)

How To Make mama's summertime lemonade

  • Step 1
Place the sugar and water in saucepan and bring to a simmer. Stir until sugar is completely dissolved; remove from heat and set aside to cool.
  • Step 2
Using a lemon juicer, collect your lemon juice. Pour into pitcher. It takes about five lemons to give you one cup full.
  • Step 3
Add sugar/water syrup, lemon juice and cold water to pitcher. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness to suit your own taste. Refrigerate 30 to 40 minutes. Pour over ice and a slice of fresh lemon and/or a sprig of fresh mint.
