Mama would never dream of sculling up her lemonade with alcohol... However, I say, it’s okay to add a shot of citrus vodka for a perfectly refreshing, adult, summer afternoon, porch sittin’, sippin’ beverage.

Ingredients For mama's summertime lemonade

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 3 cups cold water
  • fresh mint for garnish (optional)
  • lemon slices for garnish (optional)

How To Make mama's summertime lemonade

    Place the sugar and water in saucepan and bring to a simmer. Stir until sugar is completely dissolved; remove from heat and set aside to cool.

    Using a lemon juicer, collect your lemon juice. Pour into pitcher. It takes about five lemons to give you one cup full.

    Add sugar/water syrup, lemon juice and cold water to pitcher. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness to suit your own taste. Refrigerate 30 to 40 minutes. Pour over ice and a slice of fresh lemon and/or a sprig of fresh mint.
