gerry's boiled custard
(1 RATING)
My late sister gave me this recipe back in the 90's. We make it during the holidays to serve with cake. My husband especially likes it with Angel Food Cake.

Ingredients
- 1/2 gallon milk
- 6 - whole eggs
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 10 - large marshmallows
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
How To Make gerry's boiled custard
-
Step 1In large micro safe container, warm milk in microwave until hot, I usually stir at least once. (Microwaves vary). Mix sugar & cornstarch together and stir in hot milk.
-
Step 2Whisk eggs and add small amount of hot milk then add to milk mixture. Microwave until thick and coats spoon (stir every 3-4 min).
-
Step 3When thickened, pour into another pan containing marshmallows using a strainer. Whisk until marshmallows are melted and stirred in well. Let cool, refrigerate. Before serving, stir well. A dollop of vanilla ice cream or whipping cream topped with a cherry sets it off.
