Arnold Palmer, a Latrobe, PA native, had a favorite drink that his wife had been making for him for years. But it gained sudden fame in 1960 when Arnold Palmer was at the U.S. Open in Denver and asked a waitress to bring him a glass of half lemonade and half iced tea. A woman nearby overheard the order, and she asked for "that Arnold Palmer drink" too, thus giving the classic drink its name. This recipe is for one drink. But it's easier to make bulk batches of lemonade and iced tea in advance and keep them chilled until ready to prepare the drinks, so you can enjoy more than one at a time.
