I love this treat during cold weather or stormy days. Make it a date for two and cuddle with the hubs along with a toasty mug!
When serving to children, replace rum with rum extract (2 tbsp).

whole milk
3 c
water
1/2 c
special dark cocoa powder
3/4 c
dark brown sugar
3/4 c
dark chocolate chips, add more if desired
3/4 c
butterscotch chips
1/2 c
spiced rum
1/2 tsp
cinnamon
2 Tbsp
vanilla
1 tsp
butter

Place all ingredients in a saucepan and heat to medium, but not a boil. Whisk thoroughly.

Lower heat to low and cover with a lid. Cook for 20-30 minutes.

Optionally, sometimes I like to make it a little frothy, so I whip it with a submersion blender, right before serving. Or I have a special kettle I make cocoa in, as seen in picture. Very good.

Serve with homemade marshmallows or a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream.
