sweet, spiked and spicy hot chocolate

I know this looks like a lot of ingredients but it goes quickly and is so very worth the bit of effort. Honestly, you won't believe how good this is until you taste it for yourself. I found this last winter at: http://www.hungrycouplenyc.com and made it several times then and now find myself looking forward to the cooler weather so I can continue to enjoy this wee wonder again this fall and winter.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 ounces milk chocolate
  • 1 ounce semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons smooth peanut butter
  • 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 1 pinch of sea salt
  • 1 1/2 ounces captain morgan spiced rum
  • large marshmallows (optional but nice)

How To Make sweet, spiked and spicy hot chocolate

  • Step 1
    Add the milk, sugar and chocolate to a small pot and cook on a low heat, stirring constantly, until the chocolate and sugar have dissolved.
  • Step 2
    Whisk in the peanut butter until smooth and add the spices. Remove from the heat, stir in the rum and pour into a mug or glass.
  • Step 3
    Stir in the marshmallows and they will begin to melt and enrich the cocoa. Serve hot.
