Granted, there are more over the top hot chocolates to be had, however, if you want a cup of just really good chocolate this is it. I dislike thin watery chocolate drinks and this one has the body to satisfy and make you think, yessss!

Ingredients For reasonaly decadent hot chocolate

  • 3/4 c
    water
  • 3 Tbsp
    cocoa powder (preferably superior red), plus more for serving
  • 3 c
    whole milk
  • 6 oz
    high quality dark chocolate (at least 60%)
  • 3 Tbsp
    demerara or granulated sugar
  • 4 Tbsp
    half-and-half or heavy cream
  • lightly sweetened whipped cream (for serving)

How To Make reasonaly decadent hot chocolate

    Bring ¾ cup water to a simmer in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Whisk in 3 Tbsp. cocoa powder until no lumps remain, then add milk and return to a simmer.

    Whisk in chocolate and sugar and cook, whisking frequently, until mixture is smooth and creamy and chocolate is melted, about 5 minutes.

    Add a tablespoon of half-and-half or heavy cream just before serving. Top with the whipped cream
