This was how people around here (Westmunsterland, Germany) made coffee - and some still do, often while camping.

Ingredients
- 8 teaspoons coffee grounds
- 2 cups water
- 1 pinch salt (optional)
- 1 pinch cocoa powder, unsweetened (optional)
How To Make pruettkaffee (coffee brewed without machine)

Step 1Place the coffee grounds in a coffee pot with a wide bottom.

Step 2Bring the water to a boil and pour over the grounds.

Step 3Add a pinch of salt and/or unsweetened cocoa powder if you wish.

Step 4Stir, then let steep for about 10 minutes until the grounds have settled in the bottom.
