When I was little, a dear friend would make this for us whenever we'd visit her home. She was generous enough to pass it on to me. She is from Venezuela, so it's possible that it's a Venezuelan treat but I don't know that for sure. The slight taste of anise is so pleasing and not overwhelming.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups milk, separated
- 1 - cinnamon stick (or healthy pinch of cinnamon)
- 1 pinch star anise
- 1 1/2 tablespoons corn starch
- 1 pinch salt
- - sugar to taste
How To Make porridge drink

Step 1Mix 1 cup milk and spices (cinnamon & anise). Boil for 15 minutes, slowly - simmer. Strain out spices.

Step 2In a cup mix cornstarch and 1/2 C milk mix well until all dissolved. Mix slowly into hot milk mixture, stirring constantly.

Step 3Add salt and sugar to taste. If desired, add little butter and stir again. Serve with cinnamon stick in cup or sprinkle with ground cinnamon, if desired.
