Ingredients
- 4 ounces sweet baking chocolate
- 1 cup hot water
- 5 1/2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup half and half
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 8 4-inch cinnamon sticks
How To Make new mexican hot chocolate

Step 1Combine the chocolate and hot water in the top of a double boiler; bring water in the bottom of the double boiler to a boil. Reduce heat to low; cook until the chocolate melts, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 2Combine the milk, half and half, cinnamon and nutmeg in a sauce pan; cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until thoroughly heated.

Step 3Remove the milk mixture from the heat and add the chocolate mixture to the saucepan. Add the vanilla. Beat with a wire whisk until blended. Pour into mugs; add the cinnamon sticks and serve warm.
