I remember mom making this, and the whole house smelled fantastic! I got to put the whole cloves into the oranges once she pierced them, and even got to have a separate pot (without the brandy obviously since I was 7 when she passed away) for me and my friends. The holidays were special because of her, and I miss her greatly. It is recipes like this that bring back smells and memories...

Ingredients
- 4 small oranges
- 2 quarts sweet apple cider
- 1 box whole cloves
- 2 cups pineapple juice
- 1/2 cup lemon juice
- 1/2 stick cinnamon
- 1 cup apple brandy or applejack
- 1 cup sugar
How To Make hot wassail, mom's

Step 1Pierce oranges with skewer and cover with cloves. Bake in shallow pan 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Combine cider, fruit juices and cinnamon in a kettle, heat. Add sugar and stir until dissolved, remove from heat and add brandy. Place oranges in a heat proof punch bowl, add punch. Keep remainder warm over low heat but do not boil.
