I remember having Wassail in Scotland for Christmas. That version added alcohol, so wasn't able to be served to the under age guests. It was wonderful, and when my mother in law had this recipe, I had to save it!

Ingredients
- 1 gallon apple cider (not juice)
- 8 - cinnamon sticks
- 5 - cloves, or to taste
- 1 teaspoon each: ground allspice, ground nutmeg, ground ginger
- 2 - lemons, sliced
- 1 - orange, sliced

Step 1Mix together. Bring to boil then reduce heat. Let simmer 1 hour before serving.
