Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1 1/2 cups half and half
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (milk chocolate, dark chocolate or white - your choice)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1/2-1 teaspoon peppermint extract or peppermint schnapps to taste (depending on who your serving)

How To Make creamy peppermint hot chocolate

  • Step 1
    Add milk and half and half to a medium pan and heat over MED heat until simmering around the edges, but not boiling. Lower the heat slightly, and add in chocolate. Whisk continuously until chocolate is melted.
  • Step 2
    Add in cornstarch and peppermint extract or schnapps and continue whisking until smooth and velvety. Serve with whipped cream, marshmallows, peppermint sticks or crushed candy canes.
  • Step 3
    FOR HOT WHITE CHOCOLATE: Replace regular chocolate chips with white chocolate chips and continue with the recipe
