This is the recipe that I gave to my Aunt to include in my cousin's Wedding Cookbook. I don’t know if he will ever use it, but I thought it would fit right in as it was for his wedding. Note: If made, it does taste wonderful, especially over vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients For liqueur of love

  • 1 Tbsp
    coriander seed
  • 1 tsp
    cardamon seed
  • 1
    star anise flower
  • 6
    whole cloves
  • 6
    rose hips
  • 2 c
    water
  • 1 c
    honey
  • 2 Tbsp
    dried hibiscus flowers
  • 3 tsp
    orange zest
  • 1 c
    100-proof vodka
  • 1/2 c
    brandy

How To Make liqueur of love

    Coarsely grind coriander, cardamon, star anise, cloves and rose hips in a food processor.

    Bring 1 c. water and honey to a boil. Boil 2 to 3 min., skimming off any foam.

    Add spice mix and boil 4 min. more. Remove from heat and let stand 5 min.

    Place hibiscus in a bowl. Into the same bowl strain the hot mixture using a fine-mesh strainer.

    Let stand for 10 in., and then strain into a clean 1-quart container.

    Add orange zest, vodka and brandy. Top off with remaining water.

    Cover and let stand in a cool, dark place for 1 month.

    Strain out orange zest and discard.
  • 9
    Rack or filter into final container and let age for 1 month before serving.
