This is the recipe that I gave to my Aunt to include in my cousin's Wedding Cookbook. I don’t know if he will ever use it, but I thought it would fit right in as it was for his wedding. Note: If made, it does taste wonderful, especially over vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon coriander seed
  • 1 teaspoon cardamon seed
  • 1 - star anise flower
  • 6 - whole cloves
  • 6 - rose hips
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons dried hibiscus flowers
  • 3 teaspoons orange zest
  • 1 cup 100-proof vodka
  • 1/2 cup brandy

How To Make liqueur of love

  • Step 1
Coarsely grind coriander, cardamon, star anise, cloves and rose hips in a food processor.
  • Step 2
Bring 1 c. water and honey to a boil. Boil 2 to 3 min., skimming off any foam.
  • Step 3
Add spice mix and boil 4 min. more. Remove from heat and let stand 5 min.
  • Step 4
Place hibiscus in a bowl. Into the same bowl strain the hot mixture using a fine-mesh strainer.
  • Step 5
Let stand for 10 in., and then strain into a clean 1-quart container.
  • Step 6
Add orange zest, vodka and brandy. Top off with remaining water.
  • Step 7
Cover and let stand in a cool, dark place for 1 month.
  • Step 8
Strain out orange zest and discard.
  • Step 9
Rack or filter into final container and let age for 1 month before serving.
