I love the freshness from this old fashioned eggnog. I look forward to this every year. It is Christmas in a bowl. I never worry about the raw eggs. I have made this multiple times without incident. If serving to children, omit alcohol and add 1 teaspoon of rum extract. Also, save egg whites and make meringue cookies or Pistachio Meringue Pie.

- 1 tablespoon nutmeg
- 3 1/2 cups whole milk
- 2 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup rum
- 1/2 cup brandy
