decadent bittersweet hot chocolate

This is pure heaven in my book. Rich and creamy dreamy. This only makes one serving but it multiples very easily to make as mane as you need. To sweeten or not is purely up to you. I love bittersweet and often don't add any sweetening at all and just a small amount when I do.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup half and half or whole milk
  • 2 ounces fine quality bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • - sugar or honey to taste (i use 1teaspoon of splenda)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground saigon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • - fresh whipped sweetened cream to top

How To Make decadent bittersweet hot chocolate

  • Step 1
    In a small saucepan, heat the half and half or milk over medium heat until warm to touch.
  • Step 2
    Add the chopped chocolate and cinnamon, whisk to combine. Continue whisking until all chocolate is melted and mixture starts to bubble.
  • Step 3
    Add the vanilla and stir to combine.
  • Step 4
    Turn off heat and immediately pour hot chocolate into your pre-warmed favorite cup. Top with whipped cream and another pinch of cinnamon if you wish.
