Arabic Tea is popular throughout the Arab world and it is usually served very sweet in a small glass, about 4 ounces. It's common to have with breakfast, dinner, or afternoon tea. Some people don't like to put in too many spices so that's totally up to you. But the one spice which is always used is cardamom and I recommend all of the spices because it has such a lovely taste and aroma.

  • 5-10 - cardamom pods, crushed
  • 3-4 - whole cloves - optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon - optional
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg - optional

How To Make adeni tea or arabic shai

  • Step 1
First heat the water, spices, milk and sugar in a tea kettle over medium heat. Boil for approx. 5-10 minutes or until you can start to smell the spices
  • Step 2
Then add inthe tea and let it cook for a couple minutes or until the tea turns the color that you like. (Some prefer to do the other way and put the tea in first then the milk but its really up to you I don't find it makes too much difference).
  • Step 3
    Enjoy!
