I planted a peppermint plant last year and was trying to decide what to do with ALL of the peppermint that I was harvesting from the plant. I have been using it for the obvious: 1. In the kettle on the wood stove 2. for a headache remedy. But alas, I still have so much to use. Here in Washington we hit a couple of warm days and I really wanted something cool and refreshing. SO was born this drink. It has been a good alternative to soda. Even though it is a Non-alcohol beverage with these ingredients, just an ounce of white rum added to an 8 oz. serving would make this a great adult beverage.

How to Make Peppermint Chiller

Step-by-Step

  1. In a large saucepan, combine sugar with 6 cups of water. Bring to a boil over high heat.
  2. Reduce heat, and simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Add peppermint, remove pan from the heat, cover, and let the liquid steep for 1 hour.
  4. In a large pitcher, combine the mint syrup, lemon juice, orange juice, and ginger ale.
  5. Stir until well blended. Serve over crushed ice.
