Came across this recipe a few years ago, and tweaked it to my taste. My kahlua is always a big hit at parties.

Ingredients

2 cups water
2 cups sugar
3 tablespoons instant coffee- not freeze dried
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups everclear or grain alcohol at least 153 proof

How To Make make at home kahlua

Step 1

Mix sugar,water,and coffee together. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to a simmer. Simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 2

After simmering for 30 minutes, remove from heat and cool to room temperature.
Step 3

After cooled to room temp,add vanilla and alcohol.
Step 4

Bottle and cap. Makes 1 quart.
Step 5

This makes an excellent Black Russian when served plain on the rocks, or White Russian when mixed with Half and Half. This is a very strong liquer, extra alcohol is not needed. Great for a cocktail party. Have the phone number of a good taxi cab service handy LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
