summertime sangria

I made this for the first time at our annual 4th of July gathering, and it was a hit! If I changed anything, it would be to decrease the proportion of fruit and basil for a 750 ML bottle of wine. You could easily double the liquids for the listed amount of fruit, and judging by the response of my guests, that would be the way to go. Light, clean, refreshing...delicious! Make a double recipe!

Ingredients

  • 1 pint raspberries
  • 2 - lemons, sliced; cut each slice into quarters
  • 12 - fresh basil leaves - chiffonade into thin slivers
  • 1/2 cup simple syrup
  • 1 - 750 ML bottles rose wine
  • - club soda
  • 2 ounces limoncello
  • 4 ounces citrus-infused vodka

How To Make summertime sangria

  • Step 1
    In a 2 quart pitcher, combine berries, basil, lemons, and simple syrup. Muddle gently. Add the limoncello, vodka, and wine. Stir gently. Just before serving, add club soda to your taste,for a sparkling effect. Serve over ice in tall glasses.
