Ingredients

  • ·
    12 whole cloves
  • ·
    6 whole allspice
  • ·
    3 cinnamon sticks, each 3 inches, broken
  • ·
    1 tbsp. grated orange rind
  • ·
    2 quarts apple cider
  • ·
    1 cup orange juice
  • ·
    1 cup cranberry juice cocktail
  • ·
    1/2 cup dark rum
  • ·
    1/2 cup apple flavored brandy

How to Make Spirited Apple Cider

Step-by-Step

  1. Tie first 4 ingredients in a cheesecloth bag. Mix spice bag and cider in large Dutch oven. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to medium and cook 35 minutes or til mixture is reduced to 4 cups.
  2. Discard spice bag. Stir in orange juice and remaining ingredients. Simmer over medium heat til heated. Makes 8 cups.
