My mom always said to use the cheapest white tequila possible, but I prefer the better stuff. This one isn't top shelf, but it really tastes great! Plan ahead for this one, because the lime mix takes about 2 hours for the flavors to meld. Don't let it sit more than 24 hours, though, or it will start to get bitter.

Ingredients

  • TANGY LIME MIX
  • 1 teaspoon finely grated lime zest
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/4 cup sugar plus
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • MARGARITA
  • 3/4 cup sauza conmemorativo tequila (silver)
  • 2 tablespoons grand marnier
  • 1 cup ice, coarsely crushed
  • coarse salt
  • lime wedges

How To Make silver margarita

  • Step 1
    Made the Lime Mix: Combine the listed ingredients plus 10 tablespoons of water in a glass container. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours. Strain.
  • Step 2
    Rub lime on 4 margarita glasses or similar. Dip the rims in the coarse salt. Refrigerate the glasses, if you want, but not necessary.
  • Step 3
    Combine the tequila, Grand Marnier and the Lime Mix in a large shaker. Add ice and shake for 15-20 seconds or until frosty. Strain into the salted glasses.
