I saw this drink recipe on Pinterest recently and thought it might be a good drink to make for our annual 4th of July get-together. The red, white and blue color theme makes this cocktail quite appropriate for such an event.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces light rum
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 ounce simple syrup
  • 5 ounces club soda
  • 1/4 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1/4 cup fresh raspberries
  • 3 sprigs fresh mint - divided
  • 1 watermelon star (made with a small star-shaped cookie cutter) - optional, for garnish
  • ice cubes

How To Make red, white and blue mojito

  • Step 1
In a Collins glass (or an 8 to 10-oz capacity drinking glass), muddle together the raspberries and 2 sprigs of mint. Add a handful of ice cubes to the glass.
  • Step 2
Pour the rum, lime juice and simple syrup over the ice cubes. Slowly pour Club Soda on top. Float the blueberries on top.
  • Step 3
Use a small star-shaped cookie cutter to cut a star from a thinly sliced watermelon wedge. Garnish glass with the watermelon star and remaining sprig of fresh mint. Add a straw, and serve.
