I want to make drinks for the 4th,so I decided to make limoncello. I always make lemonade so I thought I'd add a little kick to some of the drinks.
Just finished making it,must sit for 5 days,so I'll let you know on the 4th how it was received.

How to Make Limoncello

  1. Using a vegetable peeler, remove the peel from the lemons in long strips.Using a small sharp knife, trim away the white pith from the lemon peels;discard the pith. Place the lemon peels in a 2-quart pitcher. Pour vodka over the peels and cover with plastic wrap. Steep the lemon peels in the vodka for 4 days at room temperature.
Stir water and sugar in a large saucepan over medium heat till sugar is dissolved, about 5 minutes. Cool completely. Pour the syrup over the vodka. Cover and let stand at room temperature overnight. Strain thru a mesh strainer. Discard peels. Transfer to bottles, seal bottles and chill 4 hours to 1 month.
