I want to make drinks for the 4th,so I decided to make limoncello. I always make lemonade so I thought I'd add a little kick to some of the drinks. Just finished making it,must sit for 5 days,so I'll let you know on the 4th how it was received. This recipe is from the Food Network.

Ingredients

  • - 10 lemons
  • - 750-ml bottle vodka
  • - 3 1/2 c water
  • - 2 1/2 c sugar

How To Make limoncello

  • Step 1
    Using a vegetable peeler,remove the peel from the lemons in long strips.Using a small sharp knife,trim away the white pith from the lemon peels;discard the pith. Place the lemon peels in a 2-quart pitcher. Pour vodka over the peels and cover with plastic wrap. Steep the lemon peels in the vodka for 4 days at room temperature. Stir water and sugar in a large saucepan over medium heat till sugar is dissolved, about 5 minutes. Cool completely. Pour the syrup over the vodka. Cover and let stand at room temperature overnight. Strain thru a mesh strainer. Discard peels. Transfer to bottles,seal bottles and chill 4 hours to 1 month.
