Part of my cookbook To serve any hot punch in a glass bowl, first heat the bowl by pouring warm, NOT HOT, water into it. Let stand until hot punch is ready. Pour water out and pour hot punch in slowly.

- 1 1/2 quarts apple cider
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 12 - whole cloves
- - cinnamon sticks
How To Make hot punches and cups

Step 1Combine all ingredients, except cinnamon sticks, in agate or enamel kettle over medium heat. Bring to a boil and turn off heat. Let mixture stand 2-3 hours. Strain mixture and reheat. Add cinnamon sticks to each mug.
