frozen strawberry margarita
Right behind the original margarita in all-time popularity, you’ll find the strawberry margarita. This tequila drink is a wonder of sweet berries and a hint of tart lime backed by that unforgettable taste of tequila, and it really is a beautiful beverage. Perfect for a summer afternoon with friends, the recipe is easy and surprisingly adaptable. If you don’t feel like pulling out the blender, muddle fresh or thawed frozen berries with the lime juice to produce a juicy pulp in a cocktail shaker. Then, add the liquors, fill it with ice, shake and strain into a glass over fresh ice.
Blue Ribbon Recipe
Choose a decent tequila and triple sec (don’t go bottom shelf) and use fresh lime juice, and you have the best foundation for this fruity cocktail! Fresh or frozen strawberries will do just fine, as they’re blended with ice, but sliced berries make the process a bit easier and produce a smoother drink. For an extra layer of flavor, add fresh mint (basil’s a great strawberry pairing, too). To make a batch for a few people, simply multiply the recipe, but keep it within the limits of your blender’s capacity. If you're using frozen berries, use less ice. You don't want the cocktail to be too diluted. Special glassware is not required; a tumbler will do just fine! You can make other berry margaritas by substituting blackberries, raspberries, or a combo of any berries.
