1 fifth dry red wine
2 cups cranberry juice cocktail
1/4 cup sugar
3 whole cloves
1 strip orange peel, 3 x 1/2 inch
1 strip lemon peel, 2 x 1/2 inch
1/2 cup orange juice
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup sugar cubes
1/4 cup rum
orange slices

How to Make Firetong Punch


  • 1Heat wine, cranberry juice cocktail, sugar, cloves, orange and lemon peel and orange and lemon juice. Don't boil.
  • 2Pour into flameproof punch bowl. Put sugar cubes in strainer; hold over punch. Heat rum. Drizzle a little rum over cubes;
  • 3Ignite sugar cubes.As they flame, gradually spoon remaining heated rum from a long handled ladle over cubes.When all sugar has melted into punch, add a few orange slices. Serve hot. Makes 7 cups.
