Eccentric Haus Frau's Liquid Demerol aka Amaretto

I made this recipe for Christmas gifts shortly after moving home from Germany. Then a dear friend was getting married in Las Vegas, so I made sure to take some with me to help the couple celebrate. A good time was had by all.

1 c
1 c
granulated sugar
1/2 c
brown sugar
1 c
80 proof vodka
1 bottle
2 Tbsp
almond extract
2 tsp
pure vanilla extract
2 Tbsp
apricot preserves


1Combine water and sugars in saucepan.
2Heat until boiling over medium heat and until all the sugar is dissolved
3Add the apricot preserves. Boil for a couple more minutes.
4Remove from the heat and let mixture cool for about 15 minutes.
5Add the vodka, brandy, almond extract and vanilla extract.
6Store in a sealed bottle. Will be ready to drink in about 2 days. Enjoy!
