I made this recipe for Christmas gifts shortly after moving home from Germany. Then a dear friend was getting married in Las Vegas, so I made sure to take some with me to help the couple celebrate. A good time was had by all.

Ingredients

1 cup water
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup 80 proof vodka
1 bottle brandy
2 tablespoons almond extract
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 tablespoons apricot preserves

How To Make eccentric haus frau's liquid demerol aka amaretto

Step 1

Combine water and sugars in saucepan.

Step 2

Heat until boiling over medium heat and until all the sugar is dissolved
Step 3

Add the apricot preserves. Boil for a couple more minutes.
Step 4

Remove from the heat and let mixture cool for about 15 minutes.
Step 5

Add the vodka, brandy, almond extract and vanilla extract.
Step 6

Store in a sealed bottle. Will be ready to drink in about 2 days. Enjoy!
