blueberry rum smash
This is a nice, refreshing, summery drink. You can use light or golden rum, but dark rum is too overpowering. The sugar can be hard to dissolve. You can use simple syrup instead, or try using superfine sugar.

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup blueberries
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
- 2 ounces rum
- ginger ale
How To Make blueberry rum smash
-
Step 1Place the strawberries at the bottom of your glass. An old-fashioned or mason jar work well here.
-
Step 2Add the brown sugar and freshly squeezed lemon juice. Use a muddler to smash the blueberries until the sugar is dissolved. You want the blueberries burst, but not mashed into a pulp.
-
Step 3Fill the glass with crushed ice. Pour in the rum. Top with ginger ale. Stir. Serve. You can garnish with a few blueberries or a lemon slice.
