Blue curaçao, made from the bitter peels of green oranges, originates from the Dutch West Indies. For greater drama, serve this as a single serving in an oversized margarita glass that holds 12 ounces.

    coarse salt
  • ·
    ice cubes
  • 4 oz
    sweet and sour mix
  • 2 oz
  • 1/2 oz
    triple sec or cointreau
  • 1/2 oz
    grand marnier
  • 1 oz
    blue curacao
  • 1/2 oz
    orange juice
  • 1 oz
    lime juice
  • 2 slice
    lime, for garnish

How to Make Blue Margarita


  1. Chill 2 margarita glasses.
  2. To frost the glasses, rub lime wedge around the rims and dip rims in a saucer of salt.
  3. Place ice cubes in a shaker. Add sweet and sour mix, tequila, Triple Sec or Cointreau, Grand Marnier, blue curaçao, orange and lime juice.
  4. Shake and strain into glasses.
  5. Garnish with lime wheels.
