Blue curaçao, made from the bitter peels of green oranges, originates from the Dutch West Indies. For greater drama, serve this as a single serving in an oversized margarita glass that holds 12 ounces.

Ingredients

  • 1 lime wedge
  • coarse salt
  • ice cubes
  • 4 ounces sweet and sour mix
  • 2 ounces tequila
  • 1/2 ounce triple sec or cointreau
  • 1/2 ounce grand marnier
  • 1 ounce blue curacao
  • 1/2 ounce orange juice
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • 2 slices lime, for garnish

How To Make blue margarita

  • Step 1
    Chill 2 margarita glasses.
  • Step 2
    To frost the glasses, rub lime wedge around the rims and dip rims in a saucer of salt.
  • Step 3
    Place ice cubes in a shaker. Add sweet and sour mix, tequila, Triple Sec or Cointreau, Grand Marnier, blue curaçao, orange and lime juice.
  • Step 4
    Shake and strain into glasses.
  • Step 5
    Garnish with lime wheels.
