Created in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in the 1950s, this is a longstanding classic. While it can be made with a variety of rums - dark, aged, spiced, white, coconut - you can use a combination of whatever rums you like.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces coconut cream (such as coco lopez)
  • 1 1/2 ounces pineapple juice (see note below)
  • 1 ounce aged rum
  • 1 ounce coconut rum
  • - splash coconut milk, optional
  • - pineapple wedge, garnish

How To Make blended piña colada

  • Step 1
    Combine all the ingredients in a blender cup. Add 1 cup of ice. Blend on High until smooth.
  • Step 2
    Pour contents into a tiki glass or tall glass. Garnish with the pineapple wedge.
  • Step 3
    Note: Use canned pineapple chunks instead of pineapple juide. It's thicker and more flavorful.
