Blackberry rum Batido

Batidos are Latino fruit shakes, lighter than milk shakes or even smoothies, and thus very suitable for the various hot weather countries where they are enjoy. Transforming the general idea of the refreshing Batido into the refreshing the potent cocktail takes no time at all. This recipe calls for blackberries, but the sky is really the limit. Use whatever is right, colorful, and intensely flavored

1 cup fresh blackberries, picked over
2 ounces white or gold rum
1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice


1in a blender, mix all the ingredients. Add five ice cubes from a standard Homestyle freezer tray. Blend on high speed until smooth and frothy. Transfer to a tall, exotic glass and serve at once. Makes one cocktail.
