1 1/4 csugar syrup
1 tspanise extract
·yellow food coloring
How to Make Annisette, Grandma W (Creme de Menthe option also)
- Combine in glass jar with tight lid and store in cool dark place for at least a week.
- Notes: Syrup is made from peel of 1/2 lemon, 1 1/2 c sugar and 1 c water. Blot peel on paper towel to remove oil. Combine with water and sugar in saucepan to boiling, stirring often. Strain and cool to room temperature. Put in glass jar, makes about 1 3/4 c syrup.
- To make crème de menthe, substitute anise extract with 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract. (Then I would omit the lemon in the sugar syrup)
