the best banana puddin'
(1 RATING)
Found this one online when preparing for having guests - love banana pudding & was hoping for the "homemade custard" version, but ended up trying this one simply because it was easier - it was divine!!

Ingredients
- 1 package cream cheese
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 2 boxes banana cream instant pudding
- 4 cups milk (per package)
- 1 - regular container of cool whip
- 4-6 - whole bananas
- 1 box vanilla wafers
How To Make the best banana puddin'
-
Step 1Start with the room temperature cream cheese. Mix in the sweetened condensed milk. Then add the instant pudding mix. Once this is thoroughly blended, add the milk (per instant pudding instructions). Put in refrigerator to “set” for a few hours. Once pudding is firm, mix in 1/4th of the cool whip. Don’t blend thoroughly. Mixed in lightly with a swirled appearance is fine. The cool whip makes the pudding mixture more spreadable (as I found out once when I tried to leave out the cool whip).
-
Step 2Now you are ready to assemble the layers in a 9 x 12 baking dish. Slice 2-3 bananas for the bottom layer. Cover with 1/2 the pudding mix. Put down a thin layer of plain cool whip. Top with crumbled vanilla wafers.
-
Step 3Repeat. Line the finished product with whole vanilla wafers. I prepared this early in the day; by the time it was time for dessert that evening the wafers were soft, which I like, but if you prefer crispy wafers just assemble it shortly before you serve. Enjoy!
