This recipe was given to me by one of my mother's best friends because after tasting it, I had to have the recipe. It is just so creamy and delicious but very time consuming as you have to sit & stir everything on low heat.

Ingredients

  • 8 cups milk, whole
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup rice, long grain
  • 6 large eggs
  • 3 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 dash salt

How To Make rice pudding

  • Step 1
    Put milk, heavy cream, rice & salt in large pot over low heat. Cook very slowly, stirring continuously until all the rice comes to the top (could take up to 1hr to 1 1/2hr) Remove pot from heat
  • Step 2
    Beat eggs, vanilla and sugar together
  • Step 3
    Gradually add egg mixture to rice mixture, continue to stir until well blended. Can be eaten warm or cold topped with whipped cream & cinnamon if desired!
