  • 2 lb
    bread
  • 1/4 c
    butter
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 3
    eggs
  • grated rind of an orange
  • 2 Tbsp
    cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 c
    sultanas
  • 1/4 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground anise
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 1/2 c
    almond milk

How To Make pudina tal-ob (maltese bread pudding)

    Cut the bread into pieces, place in a bowl, cover with milk to soak for an hour. Mix all the other ingredients together in a bowl, add the bread and continue to stir till all the mixture is well combined.

    Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish. Bake in a 400 degree oven for approximately 40 minutes being sure to check by inserting a skewer in the center a few times. Ff the pudding is cooked, this should come out clean and the pudding will be firm.
