portuguese sweet rice (arroz doce)
You cannot go to any gathering around here without someone bringing the sweet rice. This recipe is a sweet treat, with a rich & creamy texture. I've also attached a photo of my little one enjoying a taste of her momma's sweet rice :)

Ingredients
- 1 cup white rice (i use medium grain rice. this is my preference, but feel free to use what you have on hand).
- 1 cup water
- 3 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 - lemon rind
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 - egg yolks
- - cinnamon
How To Make portuguese sweet rice (arroz doce)

Step 1Bring water, milk, butter, and rice to a simmer. Add lemon peel, sugar, and pinch of salt.

Step 2Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, for about 25 minutes or until rice is tender.

Step 3Remove from heat. Add in egg yolks one at a time, mixing after each addition. Stir in vanilla.

Step 4Return to heat and bring to a boil. Cook over low heat for an additional 5 minutes.

Step 5Remove lemon rind. Pour into a serving platter or individual dishes and sprinkle generously with cinnamon!
