The Old House on Mockingbird is a lovely patio restaurant in Dallas. Our Delight is what they call an absolutely fabulous dish made with a pecan crunch crust, bananas, pudding, whipped cream and lots of calories.

2 cups flour
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup butter, melted, 2 sticks


1 1/4 cups whipping cream
4 oz. cream cheese, room temperature
1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar
2 boxes instant vanilla pudding mix, 3 3/4 oz. each
2 1/2 cups milk
1 banana
1 cup whipping cream
1/2 cup toasted chopped pecans
1/2 cup toasted flaked coconut

How to Make Our Delight


  • 1For crust, position rack in lower 1/3 of oven and preheat to 350. Mix flour, pecans and butter and pat into 9 x 13 inch baking dish. Bake until light brown, about 25 minutes. Let cool completely. Filling: Beat 1 1/4 cups cream with cream cheese and sugar until thoroughly blended. Spread evenly over crust. Cover and chill. Whisk pudding mix with milk until thickened. Spread pudding over cream cheese layer. Chill. Thinly slice banana and arrange in single layer over pudding. Whip remaining cream and fold in pecans. Spread over banana. Sprinkle with toasted coconut and chill thoroughly. Serves 10 to 12
